Friends of Worthing Hospitals

The Friends of Worthing Hospitals is a long established Registered Charity, formed in 1949 and working for the benefit of patients, relatives and staff in the Worthing Hospitals.  Our funding is mainly from donations and fund raising, supported by sales in our shop and cafe, our members’ subscriptions and bequests.

Please use the menu above to navigate to areas of interest to you. You might want to know about our Shop and Cafe, or how to make a donation, or what we do and use our money for.

Our Mission

To enhance the Care Experience in our Worthing Hospitals through staffed and volunteer run services, facility improvements and the supply of equipment for the benefit of all patients, their relatives and hospital staff.

We make many grants including the provision of gym and rehabilitation equipment at Meadowfield, an ultrasound training aid for A&E, examination couches in Outpatients, cardio ODM systems and digital reminiscence therapy packages. We also help out in less obvious ways such as providing a present for every patient on a Ward on Christmas Day.

Every £1 helps so if you can, please donate to this local charity.

Activities with The Friends

Our North Wing Cafe and Shop (and now Garden)

Head down to our Cafe and Shop in the North Wing and check out our range of drinks, food and goods. Everything you buy helps to support your local hospital charity.

The garden has now opened next to our Cafe in the North Wing Courtyard. Please buy your coffee or snack and head outside to enjoy it in fresh air. And we also have a card operated 24/7 drinks vending machine by the shop if the cafe is closed.

Patients, staff and visitors are all welcome. Check out the Friends Cafe tab on this website for more details.

The Garden is Open!

Official opening by Stephen Mardlin, the Worthing Site Director on Friday 22 March 2024. A big thank you to everyone who made this happen.
